--Workshop 2: 1:00 to 2:30 pm
--Lunch Available: Noon to 1:00 pm.
Bring your own lunch or buy on site. Complimentary Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Ice Water and Lemonade.
Pre-registration is recommended. Choose your workshops and sign up for your activities when you arrive onsite.

...BIRDS AND BIRD FEEDING-Watch the birds from our indoor birds nest. Learn the names of common bird feeder birds. Find out what food is best to attract birds. Learn how to use binoculars. Explore our hands-on nature center. Best for elementary age children and adults.
...WINTER FUN OUTDOORS-Join our staff for a little bit of everything that you can do outdoors--Ice Fishing, Sledding and Outdoor Games to name a few that are on the schedule. Some of the activities are weather dependent so just join us for the fun whatever the weather that day. Space to warm up indoors as needed. This activity is good for EVERYONE!
...CITIZEN SCIENCE BIRD FEEDER PROJECT-An introduction into the world of citizen science where everyday people help scientist track trends and changes in the environment. Observe our birds and learn how to enter your observations into the online data base to track our feathered friends. A brief overview of Project Feederwatch plus detailed instructions on how to fill out the form and enter it into the computer. Learn other ways you can help our scientist with citizen science projects like Project Squirrel. Must have basic online computer skills. Must be 16 or older to participate.
...ARCHERY-Learn how to shoot safely following the National Archery In The Schools Program (NASP) 10 steps to a perfect shot every time. Try for the bulls eye and bust a balloon. Must be at least 9 years old so they can pull back the bow.
...REPTILES AS PETS-Learn about different reptiles--snakes, lizards, turtles and tortoises--and which might be a good choice as your pet. Learn the best way to care for your new or existing reptile pet. And then meet our animals in our Valerie Hall Outdoor Education Center. Best for elementary age plus and adults.
...BASIC KITCHEN TECHNIQUES AND CLEAN LAUGHS WITH CHEF TERRY. Join Terry in our large commercial kitchen for some basic kitchen tips and tricks. Terry has spent over 30 years cooking for House In The Wood groups so he has learned a thing or two. Terry prides himself on "leaving them laughing" so join him for wisecracks, bad puns and useful cooking information. Ages 18+ please.
...WINTER NATURE WALK
Start with a quick session on how we humans can best stay warm outdoors in the winter. And then join our staff for a walk through the woods. Look for tracks and other signs of animals. Figure out how the trees and other plants survive the winter. Enjoy the fresh air and quiet of the woods. Shhh...the quieter you are, the more you see! This activity is good for EVERYONE!

...Free parking is on the side of Bay Road or in the Parking Lot.
...Registration and workshop activity signup is in Elliott Lodge dining hall. Follow the direction signs after parking.
...Bring your lunch and store it in our refrigerators or buy sandwiches and soup. The following complimentary drinks are available during lunch: coffee, hot chocolate, lemonade and ice water.
...Please follow safety guidelines outlined by staff at the beginning of the workshop. Children should be supervised at all times.
...Some activities have minimum and maximum numbers. All workshops are first come, first choice at activity signup which is onsite from 10:15 to 10:35 and 12:45 to 1:05 pm. Workshops are closed to signup at 10:35 am and 1:05 pm.
...We do not allow drinking, drugs or weapons onsite. Please smoke away from our children's view and dispose of your butts appropriately.
