A Chicago Public School, Corkery Elementary brought a group of students to House In The Wood for the first time this past spring of 2016. They came for an overnight stay with two days of programming and it was a really great experience for the students, teachers and our staff alike! 56 of Corkery's fifth graders had a busy schedule of lessons on topics including animals, insects, aquatics and astronomy. They also got to choose from archery, fishing, geocaching and campfire cooking during hobby time.
Here's what their principal had to say about the experience:
I can't begin to tell you how wonderful the trip was for all the students! One girl told me how gross the bugs were, but then proceeded to explain all the ways that insects are beneficial. They came back exhausted but full of smiles and excitement. So did the teachers! We will definitely make this an annual event for as long as we can. Thank you to all of your staff for the warm welcome and wonderful experience.

We were so happy to have the students and teachers of Corkery and can't wait to see them again next year!
